Shawn Jenkins | President and CEO (Founder)

Shawn Jenkins has strategically created the largest benefits software company in the United States. Jenkins has realized a technology vision that is dramatically changing the landscape of benefits management in all 50 states and 60 countries. Under his leadership, consumers have access to tools and services that educate and guide them as active participants in benefits decision-making. He actively oversees the sales organization including large employers, insurance carriers and government entities. Jenkins has a Master of Business Administration from Charleston Southern University and a Bachelor of Arts from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA. He also holds a commercial pilot’s license. He serves on The Medical University of South Carolina Foundation Board of Directors, College of Charleston Board of Governors and Charleston Southern University Board of Visitors. Jenkins also served as Chairman of the Growing Forward Campaign for the Lowcountry Food Bank.

Mason Holland | Chairman of the Board (Founder)

In his capacity as Chairman of the Board, Mason Holland is responsible for all board activities. Holland is also responsible for coordination of strategic partnerships with industry leaders and the development of large client relationships. He built his career around creating efficiencies in start-up and financial companies and understanding emerging markets in the early adopter stages. Entering each venture with the goal of driving down costs while still generating a profit, Holland founded American Pensions, Inc. (API) in 1988 serving as Chairman and President. Other ventures have included establishing Holland Properties, Inc. and acquiring Eclipse Aviation in September 2009. Holland attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

Andy Howell | Chief Operating Officer

Andy Howell is responsible for all operational aspects of the Carrier, Employer and Consumer business units, including the P&L of each business. During his tenure at Benefitfocus, he has also served as the SVP and General Manager of the Carrier business unit, as well as SVP and General Counsel for the Company. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, he was VP and General Counsel for Blackbaud, Inc., where he played a key role in pre-IPO and IPO activities. He practiced corporate and technology law with Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP as well. Throughout his career he has led an array of technology initiatives, including complex software and service transactions, Internet matters and asset transfers. He has conducted mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, private equity and venture capital transactions on both the company and investor side, primarily involving technology-based businesses. Howell received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington & Lee University and a Juris Doctor degree from Mercer University.

Don Taylor | Chief Technology Officer

Don Taylor is responsible for the technology direction of Benefitfocus. A software industry veteran of more than 25 years, Taylor brings expertise in the healthcare, banking and logistics industries. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Taylor was the Founder and CTO for Boxcar Central, Inc. whose product was delivered as a Software as a Service multi-tenant suite of applications to the third-party logistics market. With the unique ability to translate a technology vision into enterprise value, Taylor has demonstrated his unwavering passion for delivering value to the customer.

Milt Alpern | Chief Financial Officer

Milt Alpern brings over twenty five years of financial management experience in the technology industry to Benefitfocus, where he is responsible for directing all financial, human resources and legal functions for the company. Alpern has experience in the areas of strategic planning and analysis, financial operations, treasury, corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. Most recently, he was the Chief Financial Officer for ITA Software, Inc., a Software-as-a-Service provider of technology solutions to the travel industry, which was acquired by Google in 2011. Prior to ITA Software, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for Applix, Inc., a publicly held international provider of business performance management and business intelligence software, acquired by Cognos in 2007 and Eprise Corporation, a provider of business Web site content management software and solutions, where he was instrumental in leading the company’s successful initial public offering. Alpern holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Montclair State University.

Annmarie Fini | Senior Vice President of the Employer Business Unit

Annmarie Fini is responsible for all aspects of the employer business unit of Benefitfocus including the future direction and roadmap for product development. She also leads employer implementation, the HR Support Center, and other employer and employee support operations. Fini has 20 years of experience in the healthcare and software industry, with expertise in benefits, human resources and payroll. During her tenure at Benefitfocus, she has been responsible for building and maintaining key client relationships, managing multiple large client implementations and overseeing all client facing activities. Fini earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in public policy from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.

Greg McLain | Senior Vice President of Finance

Greg McLain manages all finance and accounting activities, including financial reporting, tax compliance, Human Resources, and internal controls design and monitoring. Prior to joining Benefitfocus in 2008, McLain was a partner with the international accounting firm Ernst & Young, where he managed accounting, auditing, tax and consulting services to both public and private companies. He has over 30 years of experience in public accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Information Technology Professional. McLain received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina.

Clarke Wallace | Vice President of Carrier Client Services

Clarke Wallace is Vice President of Carrier Client Services and serves as the strategic partner liaison between Benefitfocus and its carrier clients. Wallace oversees account management, operations management, employer support services and market adoption of Benefitfocus solutions. Prior to Benefitfocus, he was the Vice President of Strategic Alliances for In-Q-Tel. Wallace received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a focus in international business.

Jim Kelly | Vice President of Employer Sales

Jim Kelly oversees sales for the Employer business unit as the Vice President of Employer Sales. With more than 15 years of experience in sales and business development, Kelly’s expertise ranges from generating revenue and exceeding sales goals to expanding market share for large software and technology companies. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Kelly was a Senior Vice President at CA. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Mike Murphy | Vice President of Carrier Sales

Mike Murphy is the Vice President of Carrier Sales and oversees all sales-related activity for the Carrier Business unit. He also manages the Government Solutions and Solution Engineering teams. Murphy has a combined 19 years of experience in healthcare and technology sales, sales management and business development. His past positions have included Vice President of Payer Sales at WebMD’s transaction services division, and Senior Sales Executive with Fair Isaac Corporation. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bridgewater State University, where he graduated with honors.
