Benefitfocus Announces New Engineering Scholarships

Clemson University Selected as First School to Receive Funding

Benefitfocus has created a scholarship program to provide funding for computer engineering students. Clemson University’s College of Engineering and Science will be the first school to receive funding, starting this semester.

“Technology is changing almost every aspect of our world, and Benefitfocus is committed to supporting the minds of future generations,” said Shawn Jenkins, Benefitfocus President and CEO. “At Benefitfocus, we want to ensure students have the support they need to enter this rapidly-evolving industry,” said Jenkins.

Benefitfocus, the nation’s largest cloud-based benefits technology provider, is headquartered in Charleston with an additional office in Greenville, which was opened in 2003 to attract skilled engineers from the upstate of South Carolina. Benefitfocus continues to grow its presence in Greenville and hire additional associates.

“At Benefitfocus, we are proud to have some of the best and brightest computer engineers in the industry; many of whom are Clemson alumni,” said Jenkins. “By partnering with Clemson University, we are supporting the future of engineering and helping students who want to be part of developing game-changing software.”

Scholarship recipients will also have the option to apply for select internships at Benefitfocus, providing the opportunity to gain real-world engineering experience and learn from the more than 300 engineering associates at Benefitfocus.
